Bringing three-phase into a building — or expanding what's already there — starts with the service entrance and the utility coordination behind it. We design and install new three-phase services, upgrade existing single-phase services to three-phase where the utility can provide it, and increase capacity on existing three-phase services to support new equipment loads. We run the load calc, coordinate the meter and service with SCE, install the service equipment, switchgear and metering, and pull the permit through the local jurisdiction. Where a building already has three-phase but not enough of it, we add panelboards, distribution and feeders sized with headroom so the next piece of equipment doesn't max you out.

Transformers, Panelboards & Equipment Circuits

Most facilities need more than one voltage: 480V for the big motors, 208Y/120V for everything else. We install dry-type step-down transformers to derive the voltages your equipment needs, add and expand panelboards, and run dedicated three-phase circuits to compressors, HVAC, pumps, CNC machines, welders, elevators and commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment. Every equipment circuit is sized for the motor's starting and running current, protected correctly, and run with voltage-drop in mind on longer pulls. We also install and wire disconnects, starters and VFDs so the equipment is ready to commission when it arrives.

What's the difference between 208V and 480V three-phase?

208Y/120V three-phase gives you 208V for medium equipment and 120V for general circuits from the same service — common in retail, office and small commercial. 480Y/277V is used for larger industrial motors and 277V lighting and is more efficient at higher loads.
